Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640) was a Flemish Baroque painter and diplomat, renowned for his remarkable contributions to art during the Counter-Reformation era. Born in Siegen, Germany, Rubens' family returned to Antwerp, Belgium, when he was a child.
